This encyclopedia covers definitions, the science behind, and examples of different types of natural disasters. Volume one covers overviews of types of disasters worldwide from avalanches to wind gusts; fires to floods to earthquakes to smog. Volume two and three list events chronologically beginning in 65,000,000 B.C.E. with a meteor that wiped out 85% of the world’s species and ends in 2006 with a mudslide in the Philippines.
